Why I Love What I Do!

"There's no use trying," Alice said. "One can't believe impossible things."

"I daresay you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast."

These are my all time favorite quotes from "Alice In Wonderland," a story that holds an importance of roses being red. The meanings of each rose's color is intriguing. Red roses are for passion, and love. Pink are sweethearts. Orange roses represent fidelity. Yellow ones can mean friendship or may ask for forgiveness. White ones represent purity. Purple roses cast enchantment. But blue roses, blue roses mean impossibility. These things - the impossible things...motivate me. Have you noticed the blue roses on my website? For me, the blue rose, when contemplated with the aforementioned quote, carries the meaning of overcoming impossibility!

I am a woman of many passions in life - I love to be a part of people regaining their mobility and range of motion when it has been compromised due to life's stressors and strains. Being born with a blue rose, acute metatarsal adduction, I came into this world with a major challenge on my future mobility that would require two years of weekly casting therapy in my infancy/toddlerhood. While my parents were told that I would likely never walk, I did it anyway. Braces and corrective shoes followed the casting. I have been walking ever since. First impossibility mastered! This rose did come with a thorn - in my later years, I am now experiencing arthritis - but it is manageable, and I am forever thankful for my mobility. This is why I love improving range of motion and mobility in those for whom I provide therapeutic massage.

Through Mayan Abdominal Therapy certification, I have learned how to correct a tilted uterus - a condition that can in some cases cause infertility - a potential impossible thing. In other cases, a tilted uterus can be the cause of bladder and elimination issues. Mayan abdominal massage can also help with painful menses, digestive issues and can improve metabolism. It is an incredible modality that I was honored to learn straight from Rosita Arvigo herself through the Abdominal Therapy Collective and can now offer to you.

As for my Doula work, that too is motivated by an impossible thing - it happens when a woman has no voice in what occurs with her own body. This experience is a terrifying one I know all too well. It was impossible for my voice to be heard over the decisions of men. This impossibility cost me the ability to ever try for a VBAC. It robbed me. It left me feeling very inadequate, very impossible. The beautiful blue petals faded with my self-esteem. This is why I love what I do for birthing mothers - as a Doula, I will advocate for YOU - with me YOU will be seen. YOU will be heard. And if you need it I will hold your gaze, hold your hand, and tell you it's going to be okay...
